Shane MacGowan’s love for his mother’s homeland in Tipperary is well documented. The aim of this trail is to help visitors easily locate some of the most iconic places connected to him—locations that influenced Shane, that he visited during his formative years, and that appear in some of his best-known songs.

The length of the full trail is 61km but may also be dipped into as desired. We suggest using our Google Map to plan your own particular journey.

Guided Tours

Guided tours are now available in partnership with Arra Travel.
You can choose from a public tour, where you’ll travel with other guests to all 15 locations on the itinerary, accompanied by expert interpretation throughout.
Alternatively, we offer private, fully customisable tours for small groups of friends or family. Your group will be transported together to each location, with the flexibility to tailor the experience to your interests. As these tours are bespoke, lunch stops and additional arrangements can be included upon request.
