On a deeply sorrowful day, Shane’s funeral took place here on December 8th, 2023, and was broadcast to viewers around the world. This church held special significance to Shane, as it was where his mother, Therese, attended Mass every Sunday—often joined by Shane when he was home.
 

The Funeral.
 

The cortege began its journey in Dublin before traveling to Nenagh, where hundreds of people lined the streets of Shane’s hometown to pay their respects. The funeral drew both local mourners and many well-known friends and admirers, including Johnny Depp, who helped carry the coffin, as well as Nick Cave and the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
 

Shane’s wife, Victoria, and his sister, Siobhan, offered heartfelt eulogies. Music was performed by former members of The Pogues along with a large gathering of celebrated Irish musicians and singers—an emotional tribute to Shane’s extraordinary life and legacy.
 

The funeral Mass was broadcast live across the world, including on major networks such as Sky News, allowing fans everywhere to share in the farewell.
